shopping at Goodwill
One of my favorite things to do is shop at Goodwill or at a local thrift store. Most of my favorite items are all from Goodwill. My mom also has a Salvation Army donation center located where she works, so everyone employed there gets to take clothes for free.
Another secondhand place I love to shop is Poshmark. See a picture of a J.Crew item from last winter that you love? Search it on Poshmark and I guarantee someone will be selling. It is a little pricier because the sellers price the item themselves, but there are great deals on Poshmark.
The truth about clothes is that the owner cannot keep them forever. People grow out of them, use them until they don't want them anymore, or just never wear them. Subsequently, many of these clothes are donated to Goodwill or secondhand stores to be repurchased at a lower price. One man's trash is another man's treasure.
Shopping at Goodwill takes a lot of grit, though. You have to be patient enough to look through everything, and I mean everything, in the store. Even looking through the men's racks. I find the best items in the women's tops, men's t-shirts, and men's outerwear. Sometimes it takes me an hour to go through Goodwill, but I end up with a bunch of items and usually spend about $20-$30 on a good trip.
I am gonna share some of my best Goodwill/thrift/Poshmark finds, with retail and discount price.

Above: I wore this pink chiffon tie neck dress to my 16th birthday, I found this at Goodwill for about $5. Have no clue about the brand or retail price because it was an Asian brand, but I loved this dress.
Above: I am wearing a J.Crew punk floral pencil skirt I found at the Salvation Army for free. The original retail price was $85.
Above: I am wearing a Free People linen jacket purchased from Goodwill for about $5. The original retail price was $148.
Above: I am wearing a J.Crew llama wool sweater. (The sweater has llamas on it, the sweater is not made of llamas). I bought this on Poshmark for $30, and the original retail was $98 (maybe, seeing different retails for this one).
Above: I wore this pink J.Crew shift dress on the last day of my junior year. I bought this at Goodwill for $6. I could not find the original retail on this one, but I am sure $6 was a good deal.
Above: I am wearing a tartan fleece pullover I found at Goodwill for $5, and I honestly could not give you a retail price because I have no clue where it is from. The pumpkin turtleneck under it also came from Goodwill for $3. I have no clue where it came from either or the retail.
